Indiana University Dance Marathon (IUDM) and Purdue University Dance Marathon (PUDM) have completed their annual Old Riley Bucket (ORB) Week, a dynamic fundraising challenge in the name of Riley Hospital for Children. The combined effort says a lot about the commitment of the two universities to unite for a common cause, above their ancient rivalry.

Throughout this first fundraising push of the year, participants engaged in several activities to acquire donations. One of the standout challenges was the 50 States Challenge, where fundraisers were challenged to secure donations from all 50 states. This challenge leads to friendly competition between our eighteen committees, but the Riley Development committee took home the title for the 2nd year in a row.
The week wrapped up with ORBathon, an event where all of the 18 IUDM committees met and raised as much money as possible. The event featured a diversity of activities from stage games to karaoke as well as a power hour raising a staggering figure of over $45,000 in 60 minutes. Indiana University football players were also in attendance to get everyone excited about the event and to support the cause.
ORBathon allowed members to share fundraising ideas, get to know each other, and motivate each other in helping them achieve the purpose of making a difference in Riley Hospital for Children.

The combined efforts of IUDM and PUDM in Old Riley Bucket Week totaled a whopping $280,211.56 for Riley Hospital for Children. This collaboration between the two dance marathons is best captured by the motto; “One State, One Cause.” Putting aside the rivalry and coming together to raise money for the same cause.
Old Riley Bucket Week not only showcases the passion and commitment of the two university communities, but also shows the influence that IUDM and PUDM have on the children at Riley Hospital.
