Dear Recipient Name,
Pediatric cancer is the number one disease killer of children in the United States: more than asthma, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, and pediatric AIDS combined. Cancer affects thousands of children every year around the nation and I, along with 15,000 students at Penn State have chosen to fight back.
The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, more affectionately known as THON, has been fighting against pediatric cancer since 1973 and is continuing that mission as we move into our 40th year. Our fundraising effort recently started on September 30th, and will culminate in a 46-hour, no sitting, no-sleep dance marathon on February 17th, 2012.
In 1977, THON has partnered with The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. THON’s support allows The Fund to provide innovative cancer research and offset the cost of treatment that insurance does not cover, including travel, housing, and food expenses.
Every year, my organization, Organization Name, joins more than 350 Penn State student organizations with one goal in mind: conquering childhood cancer. We are all very excited to start our journey to THON 2012 and see how we can truly impact the lives of children!
In 2011, THON raised a record-breaking $9.56 million For The Kids, making it the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. This year we are trying our best to continue that tradition of excellence.
The time to fundraise for THON 2012 has begun and student volunteers are starting the year off strong. From canners on the street to alternative fundraisers, THON volunteers are spending their time and energy to ensure that THON 2012 is the best one yet!
Please join me in the fight against pediatric cancer by making a gift to THON today. Click here for more information about THON and ways to support our efforts. If you choose to make a gift online, please remember to designate my organization, Organization Name, as your organization of choice to ensure that we receive proper credit.
In order to increase the impact of our awareness effort, please forward this e-mail to three people you know and pass along this deeply important message. A large group doing very small things can make monumental change.
Thank you for your support! Together we can, and we will make a difference in the life of a child.
For The Kids,
